I'm putting in a big plug for this website, since our question this week was on natural remedies. I called about acupuncture yesterday, and you are right Hope. It is expensive. I think I might do the initial consultation though, because that's where she evaluates where your imbalances and problems are, and she then recommends certain dietary changes and herbal remedies for you specifically. She referred me to this website. The therapist I would be going to is one of the certified therapists that follows the fertile soul method. Unfortunately, there are only 30 or so in the country, so there probably aren't ones in all the areas you gals live. I would definitely check out this website though. I've only barely brushed the surface. But it's full of information about acupuncture, following a special diet, using herbs, exercise and breathing exercises, acupuncture, basically ALL natural remedies that you can do. You can definitely spend money if you want. They have materials to buy, herbs and vitamins you can purchase, and a REALLY expensive retreat you can attend. However, it looks to me like there's things that you can try on your own from home.

I'm definitely interested in learning more about this. Like I said, I might go for the initial consultation I mentioned. I'm curious if any of you are familiar with this method, and/or if you have tried any of the treatments.

Wow! Thank you so much Stephanie!!!! I will definitely take a look after I finish with exams. Oh and I wanted to tell you! I have a friend (well, they just moved to Detroit area) who does acupuncture. I've had it done before for headaches and LOVED it! He's a member and a D.O. who learned this on the side. He didn't charge me anything and has done fertility treatments on his wife (who subsequently got pregnant). If you are interested, I was thinking a bout asking him if he'd be willing to do a fertility treatment or two on me while I'm in town for a small fee. I'd be willing to ask if he'd be willing to help you out as well if you are interested.

After my laparoscopy in June for endo, the dr. gave us 3 months to get pregnant. Well, 3 months is up, so today we met with the specialist to decide what to do next. We were given three choices (I know many of you have been there, just wanted to give some info for newbies). Option 1 is clomid and IUI (~$650/cycle), Option 2 gonadotropins (I think it was $3000-5000/cycle), Option 3 IVF (~$14,000/cycle). The dr. recommended, and we had previously discussed, option 1. The prices are just what I was told, so they probably are not standard. I just find it helpful to have some idea what I'm up against, so thought I'd include it in case it gives someone else a baseline to work from.We missed out on timing for this cycle, so we actually have 1 more try at the old fashioned method, then we start clomid next month. Apparently the chances of a procedure working are best in the first 3 months, so we're really hoping this next step is it.

My next approach

I thought I'd share a couple of things I'm going to try next. I wish I was posting this because I had been successful with one of them, but some of them state they take up to 3 mos. so I don't want to wait until then to tell you about it, in case one of you wants to try one of these things sooner, with me! These are some things I've been researching, and gathering info about, because they are less drastic than some of the medical approaches. Other things I like about them is that they are geared towards becoming healthier-so even if you don't get pregnant, you're not out anything, and you may have gained some other benefit, like eating better. Last but not least, though there is some expense involved, I think it will still be cheaper than some of the diagnostic testing and procedures.
